Kenneth G. Berliner M.D.

In 1988, Kenneth G. Berliner, M.D., graduated from Columbia University with a B.S. in Biochemical Engineering. He obtained his medical degree from Albany Medical College in 1992. He completed his Orthopaedic training at the University of Illinois in Chicago in 1997. In 1997, he obtained his Texas Medical License, and then in 1999 he obtained his original board certification in Orthopaedic Surgery from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Having been trained in both Engineering and Orthopaedics, he decided to apply his engineering problem-solving skills to the field of medicine. Even after his extensive education and training, Dr. Berliner has remained very physically active: running, biking the MS-150, ski racing, and playing basketball. As a result, he is intimately aware of how physical activity can wear on the aging body. Although trained as a surgeon, it is due to his personal experiences that he has actively explored his interest in Regenerative Medicine. Dr. Berliner has maintained a special interest in improving the practice of Orthopaedics. Dr. Berliner frequently attends professional meetings and pursues continuing medical education looking for the best possible treatments for his patients. Every day, he is thinking of improved techniques and new ways to apply technology to help with the regeneration of injured tissues. Although he believes new technologies and techniques can be used to help regenerate new tissue or repair existing damaged tissues, he also believes there is still a role for traditional treatments, including surgery. However, whenever possible, Dr. Berliner is using the least invasive surgery possible to address the problem.
For over 25 years, he has been successfully practicing as an Orthopaedic Surgeon in Houston and he currently maintains his Orthopaedic Surgery credentials with the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons. During that time, he has become one of the busiest Orthopaedic surgeons in the region and has built an outstanding reputation for his Arthroscopic and Spine Surgeries. When he isn’t working, he is spending his free time with his wife and three daughters.

During graduate school, Dr. Lu was heavily involved in academia working as a teaching assistant for Histology, Anatomy, and Orthopedics. This experience deeply influences his clinical approach today. Dr. Lu believes that patient education is key to achieving meaningful health outcomes, and he takes the time to explain diagnoses, treatment options, and long-term prevention strategies so patients can make confident, informed decisions about their care.
Dr. Lu is licensed by the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners, is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and a certified DOT Medical Examiner for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. His clinical training includes extensive experience in both conservative and surgical management of musculoskeletal conditions, diagnostic imaging interpretation, and post-surgical rehabilitation. Dr. Lu is also fluent in Vietnamese.
Outside the clinic, he enjoys exploring Houston’s diverse food scene, traveling, and cooking.
